Questa Biblioteca trae le sue origini dalla volontà di Don Romualdo Cecchi (1648). Costruito sulle sacrestie della Cattedrale tra il XVII e il XVIII secolo, conserva 11.000 codici tra cui 42 incunaboli, 700 libri del XVI secolo e 100 manoscritti, che vanno da un laudarium del XII secolo alle lettere del Vescovo Simonetti (1945). La volta della sala principale fu decorata nel 1711 con affreschi di Pietro Scorzini; il dipinto illustra un’allegoria della Saggezza e le sezioni tematiche Alla fine della stanza ci sono due globi del XVII secolo. Questa straordinaria Biblioteca Capitolare della cattedrale è considerata una delle più belle della Toscana

This Library draws its origins from the will of Don Romualdo Cecchi (1648). Built on the sacristies of the Cathedral between the 17th and 18th centuries, it preserves 11,000 codes including 42 incunabula, 700 books from the 16th century and 100 manuscripts, ranging from a 12th century laudarium to letters from Bishop Simonetti (1945). The vault of the main hall was decorated in 1711 with frescoes by Pietro Scorzini; the painting illustrates an allegory of Wisdom and the thematic sections. At the end of the room there are two 17th century globes. This extraordinary Chapter Library of the cathedral  is considered one of the most beautiful in Tuscany.
