La Collegiata ha origini molto antiche ed è la seconda dignità di tutta la Diocesi di Pescia. Di lei abbiamo notizia per la prima volta nel 1045, tuttavia sembra che l’architettura ecclesiastica sia ben più antica. L’interno è a tre navate con al termine tre absidi quadrangolari. Nel 1519, quando la chiesa di Pescia venne elevata al rango di Diocesi, questo edificio fu ingrandito e trasformato grazie all’intervento di importanti famiglie locali, le quali si fecero erigere altari arricchiti con capolavori, primo fra tutti il gruppo ligneo trecentesco formato dall’Angelo annunciante e dalla Vergine annunciata. Nella chiesa si conserva una reliquia di Santa Dorotea patrona della città.

The Collegiate has very ancient origins and is the second dignity of the whole Diocese of Pescia. We acknowledge this church for the first time in 1045, however it seems that the ecclesiastical architecture is much older. Inside there are three naves with three quadrangular apses at the end. In 1519, when the Parish of Pescia was elevated to the rank of diocese, this building was enlarged and transformed thanks to the intervention of important local families, who had altars erected enriched with masterpieces, above all the 14th century group of the wooden figures of the Announcing Angel and the Virgin of the Annunciation. The church also houses a relic ofSaint Dorotea, patron saint of the city.
