Gipsoteca Libero Andreotti

Il medievale Palazzo del Podestà, detto anche Palagio, custodisce l’intero fondo di Libero Andreotti, scultore, illustratore e ceramista Pesciatino, vissuto a cavallo tra il XIX e il XX secolo. Esso è composto da circa 250 pezzi tra bozzetti, calchi, modelli formativi in gesso e frammenti, grazie ai quali viene documentata l’intera evoluzione dell’attività dell’artista. Insieme a questi, la famiglia vuole donare anche l’archivio personale dello scultore, formato da circa 5000 unità documentarie tra lettere, documenti, fotografie, disegni, ritagli di giornali ecc… Nella grandiosa raccolta è presente tra l’altro, il bozzetto de La Pietà, successivamente realizzata per la Cappella della Madre Italiana in Santa Croce a Firenze. Per la sua importanza la Gipsoteca è stata inserita nel nel novero dei Musei di Interesse Regionale.

The medieval Palazzo del Podestà, also known as the Palagio, houses the works of Libero Andreotti, a sculptor, illustrator and ceramist from Pescia who lived between the 19th and 20th centuries. It is made up of about 250 pieces including sketches, casts, plaster models and fragments, thanks to which the entire evolution of the artist’s activity is documented. Together with these, the family also wanted to donate the sculptor’s personal archive, made up of about 5,000 documentary units including letters, documents, photographs, drawings, newspaper clippings, etc. Among other things, the grandiose collection includes the sketch of La Pietà, later created for the Chapel of the Italian Mother in the Santa Croce church in Florence. Due to its importance, the Gipsoteca has been included in the list of Museums of Regional Interest.
