Pinacoteca nell’ex Monastero Benedettino di San Michele

La Pinacoteca nell’ex monastero benedettino di San Michele, interamente rinnovata e ristrutturata nel 2010, comprende il Refettorio e altre due sale costruiti fra il 1500 e il 1521 per ampliare il complesso monastico originale le cui prime notizia risalgono all’anno 1104. Nella struttura sono ospitate tempere su tavola risalenti ai secoli XIV e XV e dipinti a olio su tela risalenti ai tre secoli successivi. Nel Refettorio due dipinti olio su tela di notevole pregio artistico: l’“Ultima Cena” di Fieravante Sansoni da Sorana, restaurato nel 2008, e l’altro “Madonna con Bambino in trono tra San Michele Arcangelo e San Benedetto” di Brunetto Ippoliti, restaurato nel 2016. Due testimonianze preziose nella loro unicita del tormentato e lungo percorso della Chiesa post concilio tridentino, impegnata nella controriforma dopo la tempesta luterana che si era abbattuta sull’Europa del ‘500.

This Art Gallery, situated in the former Benedictine monastery of San Michele, was entirely renovated and restructured in 2010 and includes the Refectoryand two other rooms built between 1500 and 1521 to expand the original monastic complex, the first records of which date back to the year 1104. The structure houses tempera paintings on wood dating back to the 14th and 15th centuries and oil paintings on canvas dating back to the three successive centuries. In the Refectory there are two oil paintings on canvas of notable artistic value: the “Last Supper” by Fieravante Sansoni from Sorana, restored in 2008, and the other “Madonna and Child Enthroned between the Archangel Michael and St. Benedetto” by Brunetto Ippoliti, restored in 2016. Two precious testimonies in their uniqueness of the tormented and long journey of the Church after the Council of Trent, engaged in the counter-reform after the Lutheran storm that had hit Europe in the 16th century.
