Sala Consiliare

La grande sala presenta due serie di stemmi, alcuni più antichi e frammentari al di sopra della cornice in pietra come quelli dei Pitti, sotto la quale corre una fascia continua dipinta con altri stemmi di vicari nominati da Firenze città dominante. Questi, succedutisi a Pescia tra il XV e il XIX secolo, erano appartenenti a famiglie prestigiose come Medici, Portinari, Capponi, Acciaioli, Strozzi, Cerretani, Corsini, Tornabuoni e Gori. Proprio a un Gori, Giovanni, si deve nel 1719 l’iniziativa di dare un certo ordine agli stemmi e a suo fratello Cesare Niccolao due anni più tardi, la decisione di far dipingere anche Il proprio emblema sopra la porta d’ingresso alla sala.

This large room has two series of coats of arms, some older and fragmentary above the stone frame like those of the Pitti, and below there is a continuous group of  other painted coats of arms of vicars appointed by Florence, the dominant city. These, which followed one another in Pescia between the 15th and 19th centuries, belonged to prestigious families such as the Medici, Portinari, Capponi, Acciaioli, Strozzi, Cerretani, Corsini, Tornabuoni and Gori. It was precisely to a Gori, Giovanni, that we owe the initiative in 1719 to give a certain order to the coats of arms and to his brother Cesare Niccolao, two years later, the decision to also have his own emblem painted above the entrance door to the hall.
